WAIMEA ASSOCIATION WAKEFIELD DEFEAT BELGROVE The match Belgrove v. Wakefield was continued at Wakefield on Saturday, and resulted in a win for Wakefield by 154 puns on the first innings. With one wicket down for 86 runs, Belgrove failed to make the pace of the previous Saturday’s play, and were all out for 154. Following on Belgrove again opened brightly, A. Baigent batted solidly for 36 and Baker lost little time in reaching 37. However, it fell to the veterans, W. Fowler and W. Doidge, to save the side from an innings’ defeat, and their running between wickets gained tlie applause of the spectators, always just in, but sometimes only just. The innings closed for 175 runs which, considering the slow outfield, was a very creditable performance.

As usual much valuable time was lost at the start of each day’s play, and a little more keenness on the part of some of tlie younger players would assist in keeping cricket in the Waimeas on the upgrade.
