BIG ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES (British Official Wireless, RUGBY, 7th January. Big administrative changes made necessary by the Government's coming Bill raising the school-leaving age to 15 years and improvement of education for services arc announced. They include: (1) Reorganisation of elementary schools to provide the extra accommodation required to remedy defective premises and to reduce the size of classes. (21 An increase from 300 to 360 in the number of State scholarships from secondary schools to university, and an increase in the value of each scholarship from £BO per annum tc a figure not yet fixed. This will mean, on the basis of an average course of three years, that there will, always be 1000 State-supported undergraduates at univei’sities. (3) Better provision for technical and art education.
