BUTTER MARKET
REGULATING SUPPLIES PROPOSAL BY DANISH GOVERNMENT (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Co py right) (Received 3rd September. 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, 2nd September. The dairymen’s agitation against the Labour Government ; including a campaign to depreciate currency, is doubtless behind the Danish proposal which is not likely to be favourably received by Australia and New Zealand. Both rebuffed the idea of a mutual international agreement to restrict supplies during the recent butter negotiations in London. A Copenhagen message received yesterday stated that it was understood that the Danish Government was inviting Australia and New Zealand to cooperate to regulate the international butter market with the object of increasing prices to a profitable level.
