Do you know? When polishing smeary glass, wipe over with a cloth dampened with methylated spirits, and then polish. A sparkling surface will be the result! Rub furniture with paraffin or linseed oil, ancl turpentine mixed, as this helps' lo prevent borer'. To remove ink stains from any white material, mix a little mustard with milk, spread this oil the ink, ancl leave 12 hours. Then wash in the usual way. A little ordinary sulphur in your shoes will often cure chilblains. For stockings. If you want to prolong- the life of your silk stockings put them into lukewarm water, add one or two tablespoonsful of salt. Squeeze them out ancl then clip them into warm soapy water, and hang out to dry. Stockings often get stained at the heels through rubbing against the leather lining of shoes. Damp the stains with lemon juice and leave on for some time. Whc-n washed, the 'stains will disappear.
