UNITED FIRE BRIGADES’ DEMONSTRATION
NELSON TEAMS TO COMPETE NEXT WEEK’S FUNCTION AT BLENHEIM A team of Nelson firemen leave on Sunday to take part in the United Fire Brigades’ Association Demonstration to be held at Blenheim next week. It is a number of years since Nelson competed at the demonstration, and following consistent training since the Nelson demonstration last October the local teams are expected to give a good account of themselves, though it is realised they will be competing against the most proficient firemen in tlie? Dominion. The Nelson team will take part in all events, the complete programme extending over three days. Tlie following will he the competitors: One man coupling:—Fireman L. Goodman. Two men wet coupling:—Firemen N. Harvey and F. Sheary. Three men disable hose event:— Firemen L. Goodman, N. Harvey and F. Sheary. Three men instantaneous coupling e' ent: —Firemen C. ’Goodman, J. Pahl, and N. Harvey. Five men carry, wet hose event: — Firemen J. Paid, F. Sheary, N. Harvey, C. Goodman, L. Goodman. Two men rescue:—Fireman C. Goodman, and F. Sheary. Three men (motor) dressing event:—Firemen C. Goodman, L. Good■man and N. Harvey. Four men motor:—Firemen J. Paid, ' C. Goodman, L. Goodman and F. Sheary. Four men motor with ladder: Firemen N. Harvey, F. Sheary, C. Goodman and L. Goodman. The same j team will run the four men reel event, j The five men in the team Nvill also compete in the following: reel event (modern), reel disable, and reel with j ladder. | The brigade has been holding a series of dances to raise funds to cover the e.vnenses of the team visiting Blenheim, and the final one will be held , in the Velma Hall next Saturday. j
