EXCHEQUER RETURNS
LOWER REVENUE, HIGHER EXPENDITURE • INCREASE IN CUSTOMS RECEIPTS (British Official Wireless) (Received 14lii November, 11.5 a.m.) RUGBY, 13lli November. Exchequer returns for the past week show that the total ordinary revenue to date, exclusive of all balancing revenue amounts to £346,395,923, and the total ordinary expenditure to £422,883,350. The revenue is nearly £2,000.000 lower than at the corresponding date of last year and expenditure is £7,000,000 higher. Revenue from income tax, £6;586,000, is now about.£l.ooo,ooo higher than the amount received at the corresponding date last year; but the surtax returns are £720,000 lower. Estate duties at £49,560,000 of which £1,890,000 was recieved 1 during last week, show a full of £6,930,000 below the total collected to 11th November, 1933.
Receipts from customs aiid excise at £179,568,000 are £2,884,000 more than last year’s figures. Of other items of revenue miscellaneous receipts account for £11,450,000 as compared with £18.398,077 at the corresponding date last year.
