Widespread sympathy will be extended to Mr and Mrs J. U. McKay of Nelson College in the death of tiieir only daughter Miss Betty McKay. The late Miss McKay was held in affectionate esteem by many and the news of her death came as a great shock to a large circle of friends and the community generally. Some years ago Miss McKay entered the teaching profession, and after a course at the Teachers’ Training College Christchurch, she was teaching in the Nelson district, at Hampden street and at Takaka. The flag at Nelson College is being flown at half mast. Sir Stephen Allan, chairman, Mr Johnston, member, and Mr Haggitt, secretary of the Transport Co-ordination Board, ' arc visiting Nelson and are guests at the Commercial Hotel. Mr C. I’. Agar, of the Dairy Control Board, has arrived in Nelson and is a guest at- the Commercial Hotel. prior to commencing the business of the Richmond Borough Council last evening the Mayor [deferred ip the death of Mrs Windleborn, and old and esteemed resident of the borough and mother of a. former Deputy-Mayor. Mr H. Schroder. It was resolved that a letter of sympathy be forwarded to the family, the motion being carried in .Ilence.
