RICHMOND
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE The monthly meeting of the Richmond Women’s Institute was held in the Council building. Mrs W. H. May presided over a well-attended meeting. Each month brings new members and these, with the visitors, were welcomed by the president. The “Bring-and-Buy” stall held by Mrs Wilkes and Miss Cloudier, was very well patronised and added considerably to the Institute funds.
Mrs Thorn gave a good demonstration of mosaic work and Miss Margaret Martin charmed all with her rendering of two very beautiful songs. These visitors were given a hearty vote 01 thanks for their kindly assistance. Ihe competition lor the best homemade cleanser was won by Mrs L. Sutton (1), and Mrs Wilkes (2). Mrs Parkes presented the report ol the Dominion annual conference recently held in Wellington, where three hundred delegates represented the 770 institutes and 40,000 membors in this Dominion. Many useful remits were considered and much encouragement and nispiiation for they work of the ensuing year was derived by this meeting with its exchange of ideas with members from other parts. The hope was expressed that every institute may be able to send a delegate to conference to be held in Auckland next year.
