A Lancashire dilemma was referred to by Mr Walter Elliot, the British Minister for Agriculture, in (he House of Commons recently. Lancashire, he said, had more liens than people, and therefore they wanted imports of eggs, and particularly of Chinese liquid eggs, to he prohibited. Rut at the same time they wanted to sell move textiles to China, and they demanded that China 81101114 pay for them. Not only has Lancashire ‘more hens than any other county but its hens lay more eggs—the average is 15 per pent, above that for England as a whole. And this load has been maintained, although all over the country tho liens are laying 20 per rent, more eggs than five years ago.
