PASSING OF PASTOR F. J. SIVYER
TRIBUTES TO CHURCH OF CHRIST MINISTER LARGELY ATTENDED FUNERAL The funeral of the late Pastor F. J. Sivyer 8.A., took place at tiie Nelson cemetery dm morning, when the large and representative attendance both at the church and graveside services was fitting tribute to one who had for the past six yea:s taken such a prominent part in frne church life of the city. The popularity of deceased and the esteem in which he was held by his congregation was shown by the large attendance at the Church of Christ which could not accommodate all those pre sent. Tho service was conducted by Mr P. Bolton, and in addition the Rev. James Hay and the Rev. YV. Burley •(Nelson Ministers' Association), Mr M. Bell (Motueka), Mr T. Bamford (Spring Grove) and Mr W. liihhurt (Dominion Youth Organiser for the Associated Churches of Christ took part in the service, the latter paying tribute to tiie work of their fellow minister _ as| leader of the local Church of Christ. The cortege comprised 50 cart, and the roadway was lined by the children of the Hampden street school, where the late Mr Sivyer carried out religious instruction under the Nelson system of Bible in schools. Among those present at the funeral were members of the Nelsou Ministers' Association and v ie Mayor (Mr W. J. Molfatt) and city councillors. Many heautitul floral tubules were received from all parts of the Dominion a special car being necessarv to convey them. The graveside service was conducted by Mr P. Boiton. The hearers, all officers of the Nelson Church of Christ, were Messrs M. E. Jackson, E. B. Marris, R. Stephens, L. 11. Bull, A. B. Inglis and A. L. Brough.
