ENCOUNTER SHIELD WON BY R. GRIFFIN The sth and final round of the Encounter Shield was played last Saturday, when tiie following scores were returned : Low 93-21—72 Goodman 86-14—72 Vercoe 82- 7—75 R. Griffin' 85-10-75 Cooto 86- 9—77 Cock 90- 7—83 The result of the Encounter Shield competition is as follows: — R. Griffin 297 Vercoe 300 Cock : 302 Coote 303 Re-Handicaps Re-handicaps: Goodman to 13-10. Low to 20-15. Finals of Competitions The finals of the Leggatt Cup, Cock Cup and Founder’s Cup will he played on the 15th instant over 36 holes, the morning rounds to start at 10 a.m. Ladies and Men On Saturday next the return match ladies v. men will be played. The following are the teams: Miss Harkness and Mrs Cock v. Huggins and Trent; Miss Lucas and Mrs Green v. Stedman and Vercoe; Miss Turton and Mrs Goodman v. Cock and Saunders; Miss Gray and 31rs Topliss v. P. Moore and H. F. Elliott; Mrs McMorland and Mrs Trent v. Ralfe and I. Dodds; Miss Betts and Mrs Moore v. Cull and Shields Brown; Mrs Miller and Miss Young v. Stephenson and Goodman; Mrs Milner and Mrs Campbell Smith v. Newman and Hodgson ; Mrs Davidson and Mrs Challies v. _ Hoby and Boyes; Miss Moore and Miss Maginnity v. Masefield and H. S. Leggatt.
Several second round matches in the No. 2 four-ball competition have yet to be played. It is requested that these games be arranged for Saturday afternoon.
NELSON LADIES’ CLUB SUCCESSFUL OPEN DAY A successful open day was held by the Nelson Ladies’ Golf Club yesterday, and attracted a large entry. In the morning a medal round was played with the following result:— Senior: Mrs Topliss, 91-17 —74; Mrs Cock, 90-11—79. Junior: Miss Owen, 109-34 —75; Mrs Milner, 95-19—76. A four-ball bogey was played in the afternoon. Mrs Cock and Miss Lucas and Mesdames Bean and Martin finished all square; the first-named pair winning on the tie. JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP In the semi-finals of the junior championship Miss Fell plays Mrs Milner and Miss Young plays Mrs Miller. MeKAY CUP In the final game for tlie McKay Cup Miss Littlejohn beat Miss Moore 3 and N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP Miss Lucas and Miss Turton are to take part in tlie New Zealand ladies’ championship tournament to be held at Auckland shortly.
