NELSON COLLEGES
COUNCIL OF GOVERNORS MONTHLY MEETING HELD At a meeting of the Nelson College Council of Governors last night there were present: Messrs C. R. Fell (chairman), 0. M. Collins, F. Cullen, F. W. Hamilton, S. Kenning, W. Lock, A. E. Max, C. Milner, Dr. H. E. A. Washbourn, Dr. W. L). S. Johnston, and Mrs Childs. Mr F. V.. Knapp was excused from attendance. It was resolved that a letter of condolence be forwarded to Mr Knapp in his illness. Accounts totalling £1867 4s 4d were passed for payment. The financial statement was received. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN Nominations were called for the office of chairman for the ensuing year. Mr Fell was proposed and there being no othernominations the resolution was carried unanimously. GENERAL The Education Department forwarded a circular covering the amendment to ‘the Education Reserves Act, and giving details of the provision for short term extensions of leases of education reserves. , A grant of £39 was approved for the insinuation of two gas stoves for the manual classes. The Nelson Education Board advised that the work of installing a hot water system at the Wakefield manual classes was now in hand and would be completed shortly. The Girls 7 College Jubilee Committee forwarded a letter thaukins the Governors for their donation of £25 to-; wards the Jubilee Gates Lighting and equipment for the art room were referred to the technical committee with power to act. The sub-committee submitted a detail, eel report of the Riwaka leases. It was decided that legal opinion be obtained as to whether the leases come under the Education Reserves Act or not. The scheme of the report was approved and left to the sub-committee with power to a’ct.
