WOMEN’S INSTITUTE (From Our Own Correspondent) The August meeting of the Lower Mon tore branch of the Women’s Institute was held at the residence of Mrs G. Starnes, and opened with Mrs Woodley reading the aspirations. "Unity is •strength” was the motto for the day. One new member was proposed. ’The roll call, "My pet economy.” was well" responded to. Mrs Mason gave a short account of proceedings at the conference, and a description of the handicrafts ex- j hibited. Slle also spoke of tlie visits to Bryant and May's match factory, the Municipal Milk Depot, and Parliament Buildings. Miss Morrison was the winner of tiie competition—an eggless cake, Mrs Mcßrydie being second.- A demonstration on tapestry work, in which much interest was displayed, was given by Miss Cooper. Miss Morrison arid Miss Cooper were thanked by members for bringing beautiful specimens of tapestry work for inspection. Afternoon tea was served as usual, and the singing of the National Anthem brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close. I
