BRIGHTON TRUNK MURDER
CASE AGAINST MANCINI A CROWDED COURT (United Press Association;- By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11th August, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, 10th August. A crowded court at Brighton heard the opening of the case against Mancini, charged with the murder of Violetto Kaye, the victim of the Brighton trunk tragedy. . . .. j Counsel stated that Mancim lived with Violette Kaye for a month. Mancini on the 14th May told the landlord that Violette ran away with her uncle. Mancini on the same day went to other lodgings at Brighton, wher e later a trunk containing human remains was found. Violette was ffever again (seen alive.. ; • ;; ; • STATEMENT BY ACCUSED (Received 11th August. 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, 10th August. At the Brighton murder trial counsel read a statement in which Mancini allegedly said he did not kill Violette Kaye. He found Kaye dead in her flat, and became frightened. He- knew he would be blamed so he kept the body. Counsel added that a hammerhead found in a cupboard where Mancini lived corresponded with the fracture of Violette’s head. The body m the trunk was taken in a hand barrow to Mancini’s. second lodging ’ house, where it remained two months. All evidence pointed to Mancini’s statement being untrue. The case was adjourned. ;
