SALVATION ARMY LEADER

SUCCESSOR TO GENERAL HIGGINS ELECTION THIS MONTH (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 9th August. Eortyseven delegates from 22 countries will attend the Salvation Army High OomiciL which will be held iy London on 28th August to elect a successor to General Higgins, who will retire from the leadership on Ist November. The election will be by ballot, and a two-thirds majority is required before a new General can be appointed. Nothing in the laws governing the Salvation Army precludes a woman from becoming General. The sister and daughter of the late General Bramweli Booth hold high rank in the list of officers, and are members of the High Council.
