LOCAL BOXING

MORGAN TO MEET FITZMAURICE NEXT WEEK (By “Right Cross”) When everything looked so promising for the forthcoming Morgan-Jaggers contest, the local Association was unfortunate again, advieo being received to the effect that Jaggers was suffering from a sprained ankle, necessitating a postponement of the proposed contest. However it was pleasing to hear that the Association had secured the services of that great hearted little boxer Gus Fitzmaurice to substitute Jaggers. Fitzmaurice had been booked for a fight in Nelson directly after the Morgan-Jag-gers clash, to light the winner. He has been in hard training for this bout and is perfectly fit.

Fitzmaurice is well-known to the Kelson public and was without a doubt the hero of Ins bout, with Morgan here last year. Although he lost to the exworld’s champion lie was great in defeat. Physical fitness carried Morgan to victory when the stout-hearted Gisborne lad was beginning to tire. Another thing in Morgan’s favour was the 3 minute rounds.
