THE FRUIT INDUSTRY
(To the Editor) Sir, —Just a week ago we had a Dominion Conference of 'fruit - exporters which had already been preceded by meetings in. the .various provinces. Most delegates who participated will agree that little‘was accomplished,- mainly because of the Board .and: Goyoi'niiiept;refusal to''take, note lof.-any advice from the meeting unless m line with official opinion. • The ■ logical.'gqtion from- such a cleavage on major issues should be •further meetings of exporters, in the districts concerned. In the meantime we -o.xcl u jo epujoods Stupunojsu oqj OAuq ; vincial Federation Conference passing resolutions quite out of order, and sending cables “on behalf of Dominion growers!” The> said conference consisted of Association delegates, who had j no mandate whatsoever to make recommendation in the direction indi- | cated. Again: members of the meeting who unanimously supported the surprise motion to stay the separation of officers, had already endorsed the departure one week bofore in Wellington. This Jekyl and Hyde business .suggests tho quip: When is an exporter not ait exporter?—l am etc., ' ' . A. BROWN, j Redwood’s Valley, 9th Aug.
