In spite of the heavy ground and greasy ball, Christ’s College and Christ, church Boys’ High School, who met in their annual match yesterday, played open attractive footbal. College tvon a closely contested game by 6 points to 3. The scores indicate fairly accurately the closeness of the game and the difference between the two teams. FAST AND OPEN WELLINGTON, This Day. Daunevirke High School defeated Scots College by 9 points to 8. Play was fast and open, with little infringement of tlie rules. NOT UP TO STANDARD ■ WANGANUI, This Day. In a match not up to the usual secondary school standard, Wanganui Technical College defeated Palmerston North Boys High School by 8 points to nil.
FIRST REVERSE WELLINGTON DEFEATED BY WAIRARAPA MATCH AT MASTERTON MASTERTON. This Day. Wellington received the first reverses of the season yesterday when they went down to Wairarapa by 21 points to 16 in a game full of incident. Wairarapa put up a splendid fight and the honours of the game were theirs only because they took full advantage of the opportunities when they came. BRIGHT AND FAST HAWKES BAY DEFEAT MANAWATU VISIT TO PALMERSTON PALMERSTON N., This Day. A bright, fast, open and scintillating exhibition of Rugby was provided at Palmerston North upon the occasion of the annual match between Hawkes Bay and Manawatu. The visitors had all the luck that was going, and were somewhat fortunate in winning by 22 points to 16.
