Exhibits totalling close on 300, which were part of the Crown case in the allegations of the double murder against William Alfred Bayly, who is to be executed on Friday morning, wore taken from. the Supreme Court this morning and lodged m the police headquarters. •Since the, hearing of evidence against Bayly in the Lower Court numerous and varied exhibits have been in the possession of officials in the Supreme Court and iiavc been under lock and key i:i tiie basement. As soon as the trial of Bayly was completed on 23rd June t!;e exhibits were taken from the. court and again locked below. They lay untouched until this morning, when on. behalf of the Police Department the detectives engaged on the Ruawaro inquiry took formal possession of them from the court. Many of the exhibits have to he return'd to their owners. Considerable interest attaches to the exhibits of burnt bone and charcoal, and it is understood that medical men engaged in the case are anxious to secure specimens for future reference and research. It is the practice of the Police Department to keep all important exhibits in murder cases in the police museum at headquarters in Wellington, but the final disposal of some of the main exhibits has >et to be decided, probably by the Minister of Justice.
