RIOTOUS SCENES
BOMBAY POLICE STONED POSITION MOST THREATENING l (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 28th April, 9.10 a.m.) CALCUTTA, 26th April. During riotous scenes at Bombay the police were stoned and five were seriously injured. Iho position is most threatening. Ihe Government is blamed for allowing the situation to develop, as it is upsetting the whole city and causing a setback to trade. STRIKE SPREADING BOMBAY COTTON MILLS CALCUTTA, 27th April. 1 lie Bombay cotton mill strike is spreading, and only fifteen mills are working, of fifty-one. In no instancec has there been violence. Prominent citizens are petitioning the Mayor to call a meeting of employers ami labour to endeavour to reach a settlement. LOYAL WORKERS ATTACKED (Received 28lli April, 10.25 a.m.) CALCUTTA, 27th April. 1 hero are now over eighty-five thousand idle. Several mills picketed by loyal workers were attacked.
