FIRST AID AND FREE AMBULANCE
NEW SERVICE IN NELSON The Nelson Eirst Aid and Tree Ambulance Service which has now been established in Trafalgar street for one weefc7 has attended to 44 cases at its dressing station. The ambulance will be conducted on similar lines to those in Wellington and Christchurch and those responsible for the introduction of the station wish to offer a 24 hour free service to the public. As from to-day a free ambulance will be on the road, and the public is invited to ring ’phone 86? when free first aid is required. 'Jhe policy of the service is set out as follows by Mr O’Leary who is in charge of the station: (1) To. give a 24-hour service at the free dressing station. (2) To attend accidents in factories, homes or street, free of charge. (3) To be prepared to amalgamate and assist any other such orgamsition. (4) To have only qualified first aid men and woman to attend to the injured. (5) To be at the service of all sporting bodies in the Nelson district. (6) To be entirely supported bv voluntary donations and subsidies. (7) Not to infringe on the medical practitioners’ work, but th e station is open to any medical officer at any hour.
