HIDE AND TALLOW SALES Dalgety and Comuany, Limited, report under date BOth ilist. : We held our fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides, tallow and sundries to-day before the usual attendance of buyers. Sheepskins.—Average sized catalogues were submitted, prices generally being on a par with late rates, with the exception of fine wools which wore slightly better. Halfbreds and fine crossbreds sold from 8d to 12 1-4(1. Salteds were unchanged. Hides.—A fair offering came forward well conditioned lots coming in for special attention, tanners securing a fair proportion of the catalogue. The Department of Agriculture lias received the following cablegram, dated (21st April, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : Tallow : Quiet demand at auction ; ICOS casks offered, of which 270 sold at Is 6d to 2s per cwt. decline on the prices ruling at fast auctions. Present spot quotations are: Mutton, fine 22s 6d per cwt.. fair to good 18s 6d to 21s, dark to dull 16s 6d to 17s; beef, sweet anchor mixed 19s to 20s 6d, fair to good 18s 6d to 19s, dark to dull 16s to 16s 6d ; mixed, fair to good 17s to 18s 6d, dark to dull 16s to 16s 6d ; gut, etc., 15s to 16s 6d. , , .
