MEMORIAL TO INVENTOR UNVEILED TN WALES •British Oflicial Wireless; i RUG BY, 20th April. A memorial to Richard Trcvithic, the inventor of the high-pressure steam engine, who died about 100 years ago, lias been unveiled at Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, where Trevithie served as an engineer when he made his epoch-making invention. The tramway track, over which his locomotive, drawing a number of trucks containing i 0 tons, of pig iron and 70 men, made the first journey on 21st February, 1804, actually crossed tlie site where the memorial stands.
