WEEK OF 40 HOURS
INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION BRITISH GOVERNMENT OPPOSED (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 21st_ April. The Minister of Labour, Sir Henry Betterton, replying to a deputation from the Trades Union Council, which urged Government support of the proposed international convention lor a 40-hours’ week which is to be discussed by the International Labour Conference at Geneva in June, indicated that the Government was of opinion that such a convention was impracticable.
