At the Central School yesterday the children presented Miss M. Naylor with a crystal vase as a slight token of their appreciation of her efforts in connection with their Art Week. The headmaster, Mr McClune, said that Miss Naylor’s lectures and demonstrations had produced a wonderful improvement in the children’s work, and all connected with the . school were extremely grateful. During the afternoon an exhibition of work was held when many parents and others interested visited the school. .The death occurred yesterday at Dunepin of Mr J. 0 Stephens, of tile legal firm of Mondy, Stephens, Munro and Stephens. The deceased, who was about •’0 years of age, was a well-known citi-z.v-ii He was a member of the -Sliakcsnoaroan Society and of the Council of the Otago University. lie is survived bv a widow and a grown-up family of three sons and one daughter. Mr C. R. Duke, of Nelson, is a nephew of the late Mr Stephens.
