WAKAI’UAKA BRAKC I ANNUAL MLP.'HNG At Liu; meeting of the Wakapuuka braiihli of the W . J).!•.I . A;> ■; Anderson presided and the meeting o , v. iLli Life Women’s Creed. The annual export Mini balance silent were read and adopted. The election of officers was as follows: President, Mrs A. E. Whitwell ; vice-presidents, Mrs OTJicme, Mrs C. Dodson (fe-elecicd): secretary and treasurer, Mrs E. Cummings (re-elect-ed) ; <oi■ in■ ilLee; Mrs Kerr. Airs A. Dodson. .Mrs Anderson: auditor, Mr ,T. Corner: executive delegates, Mrs T. Whitwell. Mrs C. Dodson : advisory members, Mrs A. Dodson, Mrs I*. Anderson; “Countrywoman" secretary. Mrs 11. Dodson ; trustees, Airs East and treasurer. The president's (Airs I*. Anderson) resignation from office was received with much regret and she was given a hearty vote of thanks for the excellent work she has done for th e branch. The roll call, “What I would like to know," brought forth, some useful questions and answers.
'l lie meeting was closed with the singing of the National Anthem. The president's report stated :
The growth of the branch for the past year has been most gratifying, seventeen lie'w members having been enrolled. The meetings have been well attended and the very friend!'’ spirit prevailing lias been a help to all. Several demonstrations have been held, also cooking and other competitions. A knitting display V)rought a good response, and items read by a member from a hook on travel were enjoyed. The roll call has now been instituted and appears likely to be popular. A bring and buy stall was the means of acquiring tups and saucers and teapot, our increasing numbers making this a necessity. Another stall and a cuke'helped provide funds for expected calls. A visit from our provin-. cial executive president was appreciated. as also were visits from outside members. Tim great value of our housekeeping scheme is now becoming recognised and the registered housekeep er has been in constant employ since her engagement; and the services of a casual housekeeper have several times had to he obtained. The fact of the housekeeper now doing good work m our own district should give members an even greater enthusiasm for this organisation, which sets out m such excellent spirit to help tlie country woman. Mistakes lpay he many, hut no one can deny the increasing helpfulness of the W.D.F.U. both in a practical sense and in developing a community spirit. In conclusion I would like to thank those who so kindly lent their rooms for meetings, the committee and members generally lor helpful suggestions and support and finally most grateful thanks to our secretary for her able work and keen support in all undertakings. This will he my final term of office, and I take the opportunity to wish my successor as pleasant a time as 1 have had."
