EXTREMISTS AT CONVENTION COMMUNIST PROGRAMME DEFEATED (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) DUBLIN, 12th April. The I.ILA. differences revealed in yesterday’s statement' which set forth that two generals and another member had been suspended and were awaiting courtmartial for alleged indiscipline in trying to induce support for a new political party, arose at a convention when extremists proposed that the organisation should openly adopt a Communist programme. The Beds were defeated and walked out. They issued a manifesto announcing their intention to form a new republican body to fight capitalism, and make the issue of a workers’ and peasants' republic predominant in Irish politics. GROWTH OF BLUE SHIRTS LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS DUBLIN, 12th April. The Blue Shirts in the Irish Free State, now over 100,000, acclaimed General O’Duffy in a speech at Kinsale, County Cork. Referring to the forthcoming local government election, he said that a triumph for the United Ireland party therein would ensure a decisive mandate for the party when the general election came.
