WATER SUPPLY SCHEMES
CONSIDERATION BY CITY COUNCIL ENGINEER TO REPORT ON COSTS Since the last meeting of the Nelson City Council the committee of the whole Council considered the engineer’s reports on possible schemes for a water supply for Nelson and the surrounding districts, and the following report to last night’s meeting was adopted : As to the City Engineer’s report on proposed water supply schemes: (a) That in view of the Engineer’s recommendations, schemes 2 and 4 in his report be selected for further investigation. (b) That the Engineer be instructed to report on the respective cost, including the cost of land required in each case, of (1) A suonly of ud to lj million gallons a day for the Citv only from (a) the South branch of the Maitai. (b) The Boding River vm, Poorman’s Valley. (2) A supply sufficient for the City and' Tnhunanui from (a) the South branch of the Maitai. (b) The Roding River via Poorman’s Valley. (3) A supply sufficient for the City. Tahunanui, Stoke and Richmond from (a) the South branch of the Maitai. (b) the Roding River via Poorman’s Valley. (r) That the Engineer be instructed to have an analysis made of the water from the various sources, for which an analysis report has not been obtained.”
