Life on the Chinese Eastern railway is more exciting than'on any other railway in tlie world. The Soviet manager reports that last year bandits staged 11 train wrecks and 39 attempted wreckings, 30 armed raids. 19 arson cases, 60 murders of railway employees. 197 cases of assault and robbery, and 403 kidnappings in the neighbourhood of (he line.
