GAS EXPLOSION

IN JAPANESE COLLIERY TRAPPED BY RAGING FURNACE (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) TOKIO, 9th April. A gas explosion occurred in Kiikushima colliery, near Fukusliima city. Between 50 and 100 miners are trapped behind a raging furnace, and rescuers are feverishly trying to bring them to safety.

ALL WORKERS SAVED STRENUOUS RESCUE EFFORTS (Received 10th April, 9.35 a.m.) TOKIO, 9th April. Following tlie Fukusihima colliery explosion rescuers made most strenuous efforts and saved all the 130 workers, of whom nine, are in a critical condition.
