MOTUEKA CRICKET ASSOCIATION
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE VARIOUS MATTERS DEALT WITH (From Our Own Correspondent) An executive meeting of the Motueka Cricket Association was held m the High School on Wednesday evening. Mr 11.' Smith presided. The secretary was instructed to procure the association trophies with a view to having them engraved to date lot’ presentation at the next executive meetLi regard to uufiancial members, it was decided that the matter he held over pending the redrafting of tile rules. 'The executive meeting temporarily adjourned and a special general meeting was held to consider Mr Clark’s notice of motion re alteration to rule 19, which would read •three selectors for the junior representative eleven.” Mr Clark moved accordingly, the motion being seconded by Mr Allcott and carried. On resuming the executive meeting, Messrs 11. Rowling and A. Hunt were appointed the junior selectors. In connection with possible and probable matches (senior and junior), it was decided that the teams include twelve men aside.
Tt was resolved that the junior Possible and Probable match bo flayed on Saturday, 30th December at Lower Moutere. The junior selectors were empowered to make all arrangements with regard to tlie junior representative match, and Mr Clark was authorised to make arrangements for the senior representative trial. A request from the Riwaka. Club in regard to postponing their match on Saturday and asking permission to play Tapawcra at Riwaka on Boxing Day was granted. Permission was also given for the following friendly matches to be played during the holidays: Dovedale v. Ath - letic ; Lower Moutere v. Te Rama ; Upper Montere v. Tapawera ; Dovedale v. Tapawera. The boundary question was discussed, and it was finally decided that the association approve of the principle, as re quested by the Nelson Association. It was agreed that an invitation ho extended to the Taranaki team to play Motueka on Saturday next; to the Takaka juniors to play at Motueka on Saturday, 20th Januar- • and to the Waimea juniors to suggest a date for a game at Motueka. Association, umpires appointed for the season were: —Senior, Messrs A. E. .Fry, A. 0. Talbot, Geo. Fowler .and L. Goodall. Junior: Messrs 11. Miller, T. 0. Chittenden. W. Duncan, IT. Canton, IT. Fry. 0. Wilkinson and T. Bensomann.
Mr A. W. Moverley tendered his resignation as secretary, owing to pressure of other work. The meeting expressed ■its appreciation of Mr Moverley’s services: Mr TT. Suckling was appointed to succeed Mr Moverley.
Since the meeting advice has been received that the Taranaki team will not leave New Plymouth until Saturday morning, and in consquence the match with that club at Motueka will not be played.
