NEW GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS
APPOINTMENT OF ARCHITECTS .British Official Wireless) RUGBY, "20th December. Mr Vincent Harris, architect, lias been appointed for the new Government buildings in Whitehall. He is 54 years of age and won a competition in 1914 for ihy Board of Trade building, construction of which was postponed owing to the war. The new Government buildings contemplated will stand between Whitehall and the Embankment, and will house about 5000 civil servants. It' is expected that the new building will cost over £2,000,000.
Thomas Tail, is the architect for new offices in Edinburgh to cost about £.400,000.
