DAIRY PRODUCE
RESTRICTION OF CHEESE EXPORTS BRITISH MILK PRICES (United Press Association-fly Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 22nd December, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, 21st December. Messrs R. L. Cohen and K. A. Murray have completed a study of the effect of butter and cheese supplies on milk, which is published by the University of Oxford Agricultural Research Institute. The authors contend that New Zealand would gain by the restrictions of her cheese exports and it might pay her to turn somewhat from cheese making to blitter. A reduction of 20 per cent, in New Zealand cheese exports to Britain would restore the total cheese supplies to the 1926 level, and might raise British milk prices to 7d per gallon. It was improbable that the dominions will agree to more than a, 10 per cent, restriction in blitter.
