200,000 SHEEP TO BE DESTROYED

BUENOS AYRES, 15th Decvember. Unless prices rise quickly, 200,000 Patagonian sheep will be slaughtered and burnt in the Argentine. The Sheep Breeders’ Association announces that ui the last six months 50,000 sheep have been destroyed. Those already killed have been between three and four years old, the farmers destroying them because ot failure to open up fresh markets or obtain a Government subsidy. Meat packers are unable to handle more than 20 per cent, of the annual increase. Some lambs recently brought only 9d each at the slaughter yards, the lowest price for 40 years.
