CHARGE AGAINST A CLERK [By Telegraph—Press Association] GISBORNE, This Day. Yesterday at Ruatoria, Detective McLeod arrested Henare Poananga, who later appeared in Court on a charge that, on or about F3th June, at Ruatoria, being a clerk in the employ of the Native Land Department, lie did steal £6 3s 6d, the property of the Department. On the application of the detective, the accused was remanded by consent until 17th January, the detective indicating that further inquiries would be necessary. Bail was -fixed self in £IOO and one surety of £IOO.
