PRESBYTERIAN SUMMER CONFERENCE

OVER 400 REGISTRATIONS RECEIVED Arrangements are now well in hand for the conference of Presbyterian Bible Class members and Sunday teachers to be held in Nelson from 27th December to 4tli January. Registiations to date 'total over four hundred and are still coming in. The number of registrations at New Plymouth, where tlie Conference was held last year, was four hundred and iifteen. This number has already been equalled and it is the hope of tue local committee that,' by the time all registrations have been received. New Plymouth’s figures will have been exceeded by a considerable margin. , , The majority of the delegates will arrive on the evening of Wednesday ot next week, the North Island delegates by daylight trip from Wellington and the South Island ones by car. A few ot the North Island delegates will arrive on Wednesday morning. Aliss I, Wilson and Miss A.’Kirkwood, who are members of the Permanent Conference Committee in Wellington which controls the Conference programme, arrived last week to superintend arrangements, the first official meal of the Conference will be tea on Wednesday evening and at o pin a welcome meeting will be held m the Methodist Church, at which the Mayor and other prominent citizens will speak. A list of the principal speakers of the Conference will be published later. , ~ r , Tlie ladies’ camp is to be at the Len tral School while the men will occupy the Anglican Hall, Nile Street East. The campers will sleep on beds of straw and working bees have, been held making up the beds, which is quite a big job The Camp Father is to be the Rev R. T. Dodds, of Tasman, and Mrs Dodds will be Camp Mother. The presence of such a large numbei cf young people from other parts, is sure to create much interest in the city. A reminder is given that all die evening meetings and the Sunday services, particulars of which will be advertised later, are open to tnc public.
