TRANSPORT LICENSING

HOLIDAY TIMETABLES CONSIDERED TRIAL BUS SERVICE OVER MOANA A meeting of the No. 7 Transport Licensing Authority was held in the Institute rooms yesterday afternoon when amendments to time tables for the holidays, and seasonal licenses, were considered. The chairman, Dr. S. A. Gibbs, presided, end with him was Mr W. T. Churchward.

K. Sutherland’s application for amended time tables for the bus service between Blenheim and Ticton on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day was objected to by the Railway Department (Mr (jreig, of l’iclon). After considering the points raised the board came to a. compromise which it. considered fair to both parties and in the interests of the best service for the public. Application was made by the Suburban Bus Company (ill - S. Croucher) and Burns' Service for amended holiday timetables. There being no objections the applications were approved. Application was also made by the Suburban Bus Co., for an amendment to provide for a trial service between Nelson and Tahuna over Moana. It was pointed out by the chairman that it was intended to run the service from Nelson, up Washington Valley, and over Queen’s Drive to laliuna. lie added that there, was no <jther service and it appeared to be quite a worth while service to a section of the public not now catered for. The application was approved. A seasonal goods license for an extra truck on the Tasman-Mapua-Motueka service was granted to S. F. Mcllerg (Mr W. C. Harley). Amendments to passenger service time tables over the holidays were granted to Gibbs Motors (Mr P. Boyes) and Newman Bros. (Mr A. 11. Crawley). An amended timetable lor Spiers’ Nel-son-Murchisoa service was also approvcd. Application was made by J. Dobson for changes in the Nelson-Lake llotoiti service time table. The application was granted.
