BRITISH NAVY-
IMPORTANT CHANGES TRAINING MORE PRACTICAL CLOSER CO-OPERATION WITH DOMINIONS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 24th May. Important changes in the British naval policy are foreshadowed by the “Telegraph's” naval correspondent. Closer co-operation with the dominions is being attained, the first fruits of which may be the strengthening of the Royal Australian Navy. The whole question of warship design is undergoing review, and the replacement at tlie proper time of obsolescent battleships is receiving special attention. The training of the (loot in future will be conducted on more practical lines, demanding an increase in quotas for fuel and practice ammunition, and the tendency to over-specialisation is being checked. Specialist officers in future will lie required lo take a share in deck dut - ies. Tentative plans have been drafted giving all young officers anid seasmen a course in training in small ships such as destroyers, before sending them to •ho battle fleet. It is believed that tins will raise the navy’s, standard of seamanship.
