NAPIER WOOL SALES
BETTER QUALITY DEARER
AVERAGE WOOLS LOWER
(By Telegraph—Press Association!
NAPIER, This Day.
At the third wool sale of the season a total of 25,048 ' bales was submitted to a full bench of buyers. The quality of most of Ihe lots was below: that offered at the last sale. There appeared to be an. over-supply of 42-44’s and 44-46’s. At the outset of the sale selling was characterised by little animation, and prices were on a par to a farthing, sometimes a halfpenny lower, than those for the January offering, which may. be accounted for by the heavier condition of the wool compared with the last Napier sale. Wools of s|’s and better quality appreciated fully a halfpenny, but all average wools depreciated slightly. Bradford purchased most of the fleece wools, but her competition for finer styled lots was outlived by that of competitors. Fleece wools generally were carrying a fair amount of condition, and any depreciation in values were compensated for in weight. In most catalogues passings were infrequent, and a good percentage of lots was disposed of under the hammer.
