SUCCESSFUL YEAR’S WORK
NELSON HOSPITAL BOARD STATEMENT BY CHAIRMAN SEASONAL GREETINGS k ' ; At to-day’s meeting of the Nelson y Hospital Board the chairman (Major It. Dagger) pointed out that it was the last meeting for 1932. He said that with the coming of the end of the year lie could not help coining to the conclusion that the board could be satisfied with its work of 1932. The hospital grounds, and gardens were a credit to the institution. The gardens supplied all the vegetable requirements of the hospital, ' the old wooden buildings had been ■ painted, the new storeroom was second , to none in any similar institution, an old __ ward having been converted free of cost - by Unemployed labour, the old storeroom had been converted into a- workshop, the new morgue to replace the old one which was a disgrace, was under construction, and present indications were that the end of the financial year on 31st March would find the board _ facing the next year in a better position than it had entered this year. “\\e are finishing up the year with the institution’s services up to date and working satisfactorily,” he said. No doubt difficulties would have to be met as they came in the new year, but he felt sum that the good judgment of board members would see those problems overcome. With the coming of Christmas the chairman extended to members his best> _ wishes for a happy Christmas and happy New Year, and hoped 1933 would bring prosperity to all. To members of the office staff, to the Medical Superin.teu- , / dent and Matron and their staffs, and to the other employees he extended hearty seasonal greetings. Mr G. Wharton on behalf of members of the board thanked the chairman for his greetings which he reciprocated. He assured the chairman of the members strongest- 'support and added that the board could “not have a more assiduous and keen chairman. (Applause.) On behalf of the staff the ManagingSecretary (Mr G. Chapman) thanked Major Dagger for his remarks and extended to the chairman and members seasonal greetings, assuring them of the .‘C continued loyalty of the staff im whatever circumstances they were called upon.
