WRECKAGE ON EAST COAST

NOT YET IDENTIFIED The Marino Department at Wellington has received full details of the wreckage which was washed up at Blackhead, on the East Coast, early this w.cek. It was thought before that the wreckage might be from the launch Advance, which lias been missing since early in July, but the Department’s officer from Napier did not believe thewreckage was from the Advance. Tho’ Marine Department would be pleased to hear from any who, from the information given below, may be able to assist in the identification of the wreckage. There is a cabin-top 10ft Tin long by 6ft 3in at one end and tapered to a point at the other end. It is painted blue inside, and blue oevr white outside. It consists of ten planks on each side of the centre, the planks being sol on nine cross-ribs. The cabin-top here described could not be part of the Advance, as tbo missing launch’s cabintop was painted chocolate on the outside, and white inside.

A small copper benzine tank was found near tbo cabin-top, and was taken to Napier, but from inquiries made it lias been established that it was not part of the equipment of tho Advance. The tank is being sent to the'Marine Department at Wellington. The wreckage is stated not to be part of tho yacht Ainai, which was wrecked off Tory Channel early this year.
