JUMP FROM AEROPLANE
NEW RECORD CLAIMED (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received Ist July, 8.50 a.m.) PARIS* 30th June. Twenty-three minutes after jumping from an aeroplane 7780 metres up, a young parachutist, Rene Marchenaud, landed safely in a field. This is claimed to be a record jump. Sealed instruments recorded the altitude. Marchenaud wore a special breathing mask. The previous record was held by Captain Willy Coppens, V.C., who jumped from a height of four miles at Villa Coublay.
