RETURN MATCH WITH MARLBOROUGH PROSPECTS FOR KEENLY CONTESTED GAME At Trafalgar Park to-morrow the return home and home match between the Nelson and Marlborough Rugby representatives will be played, and the prospects are for an evenly-contested game the result of which will be interesting m view of Marlborough’s challenge for the Seddon Shield (Buller holders) later this month.

The weather is>#iow apparently settled and the- ground lias dried well considering its state last week-end. These two factors should ensure a large crowd and fast football. In tile former home and home match played a fortnight ago in Blenheim Nelson won by 19 points to 15 in a game which produced sparkling football. If Marlborough win to-morrow it will even the- number of victories each the two provinces have had since the first match was played between them in 1883.

The Marlborough team, under the management of Mr Costello, will arrive in Nelson to-night- and will stay at tbs Central Hotel. The teams will be as follows: Marlborough Full back: Bartlett. Threequarters: McLaughlin, Fleming, Phillips. Five eighths: Sveuson (capt.) Roberts. Halfback : Robinson. Forwards:- Washington, Tap ley, R. Woolley, Mulloy, Mcßryde, M. Woolley, Botham, and Baker. Nelson . Full back: Watson. Threequarters: Snodgrass, Newman, Beard (captain). Five eighths: S. Stewart, F. Fowler. Halfback: Westley. . Inter-provincial matches between Marlborough and Nelson commenced as far back as 1883. By this date Rugby had been played in Nelson for about 15 years, and 9 representative matches had been played against Wellington, whereas the game was comparatively new in Marlborough in that year and Nelson won by 3 goals and 7 tries. The second game was not played until 1889 Since that date the provincial teams have met fairly regularly, and in recent year's home and home matches have been played annually in Nelson and Blenheim respectively.
