AND PRIVY COUNCIL REFUSAL TO RECOGNISE (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 20th June. r flie “Daily Express” says that tho Free State has officially intimated that though it is cited to appear it will not be represented before the Privy Council when a petition is heard to-day asking leave, to appeal by former members of tlie Irish Constabulary against the decision of the Free State Supreme Court. This is Ireland’s first direct refusal to recognise tlie Privy Council as the highest. Court of the Empire. STATEMENT BY LORD PARMOOR (Received 21st June, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, 20th June; “The absence of a reservation in the Statute of Westminster entitles the Free State to repeal the oath legally,’ declared Lord Parmoor. “The Treaty obligation no longer lias its original force.” (Lord Parmoor is a member of the Judical Committee of tlie Privy Council).
