SOVIET AGENT

GERMAN STUDENT ARRESTED LONDON, 7th April. Described as a member of ope of the highest Communist orders of Russia, Ewald Anton Hugo Schodel, 25, a German student, was remanded at Bow street for failure to register as an alien, it was stated in evidence that he arrived in England on 91 h September. His documents showed that lie was a Soviet agent, travelling to England to secure information about Communism. One of his books described the cells of English Reds, and also gave a list of people, of a milder class. They covered the main towns of England and Scotland. A code, which lias not yet been deciphered, was also toiyul. The magistrate said that the memoranda would apparently help in carrying out Communist agitation.
