CONSISTORY COURT CASE LONDON, 7th April. Referring to the large number of letters received by the church authorities protesting against the' publication of the evidence in the Consistory Court lelating to the charges of misconduct against the Rev. 11. Davidson, (he rector of St-ili-kev, Norfolk, and urging that the case be held in camera, the Chancellor of the Diocese, Mr F. Keppel North, LL.B., said: “I have no power to hold the inquiry in camera, and if T had I would not, as I believe in publicity. “Despite the seriousness oE publishing unsavoury details,” lie added, “it is not nearly so serious as secret trials might be. If tilings are supposed to be wrong, a careful inquiry should he made.”

The Court decided to grant Davidson an adjournment until 19th May, when tile case for the prosecution is concluded, in order to enable him to raise funds to continue to meet the expenses of counsel. who otherwise would withdraw from the case.

In order to avoid an adjournment, the prosecution offered to place £250 at the disposal of the defence, and when thathad been expended to consider further advances.
