ROWING

ROGERS CUP RACES TO-MORROW One of the most important rowing races of the year will take place to-mpr-row afternoon . Although only four crews will be racing it is anticipated that some very keen events will take place. All the crews have been training seriously and there should be a good improvement in the form shown. The boats are in first class order so that provided the water is good the spectators will be treated to a very pleasant afternoon’s sport. The crews participating will be: Jarvis (s), G. P. Russeil, Hill, Stewart. J. Dyce (s), Holbrook, Ainos, Griffin. Rennison (s), Russell, Baigent, Davis. M. Winter (s). Hunt, Blundell.. McKenzie. Advice has been received from the Kawatiri Rowing Club that they will arrive here on Easter Sunday, and row the annual contest on Easter Monday. The Nelson crews will be selected over the week-end and training commenced immediately. All our boys are feeling fit and with another three weeks’ hard training and combination the local boys should give a good account of themselves at Easter. The first race will take place at about--2.30 o’clock to-morrow afternoon.
