STOLEN CIGARETTE COUPONS

WHOLESALE TRAFFICKING - TWO WOAIEN CHARGED (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Wholesale trafficking in cigarette coupons stolen from W. D. and H. O. Wills (N.Z.) Ltd. .was alleged in the Police Court yesterday against two women charged with theft from the company of 55,000 coupons valued at .££29 3s 4d. The women had been employed by the firm as cleaners, doing their work in the early morning, and according to the police the coupons had been extracted from locked bins which contained coupons sent to the firm in exchange for gifts.

The accused were Bessie Burton and Elizabeth Haines. After much evidence had been heard Mr Page, S.M., decided that there was a prima facie case against both women.

Burton pleaded not guilty and, was committed to the Supreme Court for> trial. Haines, who pleaded guilty, was omniitted for sentence.
