Tho Rev. D. McCosh, who has been laid aside by illness .for some weeks, is now making* good progress towards recovery.

The appointment of Captain W. M. Bell, of Wellington, as Resident Commissioner of Nieue Island is announced. He succeeds Captain A. A. Luckham. who has been transferred to the island of Aitutaki. —Press Association.

The death lias occurred at Wellington of Captain Thomas Harry Cliudley, Marine Superintendant of the Shaw Navill and Albion Company, aged (12 years. Deceased first went, to sea, in the earl/ eighties. He joined the Shaw, Savill Company as junior officer in 1890. His first command was the old Maori. Later he was master of the company's first Rangatira. After the command of other vessels lie was in May 1915 appointed as Marine Superintendent, which position lie held till his death yesterday. Deceased is survived by a widow and five daughters. —Press Association.

A Press Association telegram from Wanganui reports the death of Mr A S. Campbell, who was recently appointed acting traffic manager at Wanganui, lie died suddenly in a, private hospital this morning. He was well known m the service, and was formerly stationmaster at Auckland.
