REGISTRATION OF ALL LABOUR PREFERENCE TO LOCAL RESIDENTS (By Telegraph—Press Association) HASTINGS, This Day. Owing to the magnitude of the unemployment problem facing Hastings, the following resolutions have been adopted by the governing authorities: Registration of all labour to be done through the registration office; absolute preference in all eases is to be granted to local residents; all labour on a remuneration basis to be engaged through the registration office, where full lists of all tradesmen is to be kept. In the event of a shortage of any tradesmen the registration officer will apply to the head office of the union concerned in Wellington for the required number of men. In the event of any registered man obtaining employment lie is to notify the registration officer at once, so that his name can be removed from the list.
